HANDLING ADDICTIONS WITH ENERGETIC BALANCING TECHNIQUES

The
Changing Lives Energetic Balancing System and its tapping
techniques can be very useful in dealing with addictions. Experts agree that
addictions are often used as tranquilizers to avoid the pain of strong emotions.
In my own life, I used to "need" a frequent
dose of my favorite comfort food and drink--a Snickers candy bar and Dr. Pepper
soft drink--to handle the heavy stress of a former job. The combined caffeine
and chocolate rush felt very soothing to my emotions and let me bury my feelings
in order to get on with the work I had to perform. Back then, I ignored the
dangerous nutritional impact on my physical health. I have since eliminated
caffeine from my diet, but still eat sweets occasionally to relieve my emotional
upsets.
The tranquilizing effects of nicotine,
caffeine, sweets and alcohol seem to neutralize our fears, anxieties and other
negative emotions. Our choice to use addictive "solutions" creates many
problems: we develop unhealthy habits that can put us at risk for illness, and we
avoid issues that come into our lives for lessons and personal growth.
What can we do to improve our choices with
positive solutions? The tapping routines can be used as our tranquilizer
instead of the toxic substance.
Let's take cigarette smoking as an example. When a client is
truly committed to give up smoking, the tapping technique can be very successful.
Whenever the urge to smoke is strong, it can be overcome with just a simple
tap on the side of the hand and repetition of the following phrase: "I
deeply and profoundly accept myself, even though I crave that cigarette."
The client repeats this process three times,
then taps on 4 other points on the body while repeating the phrase "I crave
that cigarette." After completing this brief tapping routine
(which reprograms any personal self-limiting obstacles), both the anxiety in
the body and the craving should be reduced.
If the urge still exists, the routine should be repeated, with the affirmation
changing to "I deeply and profoundly accept myself, even though I STILL
have SOME craving for that cigarette." This step is repeated twice,
as is another series of taps on the 4 other points while reciting the phrase
"REMAINING craving". In most cases, this second tapping routine
is enough to reduce the craving for the cigarette.
Using this very brief routine
(usually less than 2 minutes) clears the distracting intensity of a client's
craving with a tapping tranquilizer instead of a cigarette, allowing him or
her to move past the anxiety and address the root emotions behind the craving.
Smokers often express concern that they
will gain weight if they quit smoking. This occurs because they have
not addressed the underlying core issue just by removing the relaxing effects
of nicotine. So in our attempt to smother our emotions, we frequently
replace the nicotine with food as our steady substitute tranquilizer, which
causes our bodies' weight to increase.
If we can select the tapping process instead, our anxiety decreases and we
lose the nicotine and food cravings. This process also can benefit
smokers and their employers with time and production lost at work
(since today people have to go outside to accommodate their smoking habits.)
These general tapping techniques are
proven successful when used regularly, but more difficult cases can be
resolved with individual consultations, where unique tapping routines are
developed for a given client. During these sessions, we also use
other techniques to remove any energetic blockages that have limited a
client's personal progress with kicking the smoking habit.
These self-empowering tapping techniques
can be used to handle other addictions as well. To pre-register for
upcoming seminars on this topic, please contact John directly.
Clearly, using the Changing Lives Energetic
Balancing System can truly benefit everyone
with any life challenges!
