WEIGHT LOSS -
REPROGRAMMING YOUR BODY NATURALLY
St. Charles Herald-Guide on January 16, 2002
Want to lose weight this
year? Though it might seem impossible, many
people are using self-administered energetic balancing
techniques to assist them in losing pounds and inches.
The techniques simply involve tapping with the
fingertips on specific acupressure points on the body
and the use of affirmations.
The tapping was recently
demonstrated successfully on the "Regis and
Kelly" show that aired on January 3, 2002.
Dr. Callahan utilized techniques on 17
participants that were tremendously afraid to ride
a roller coaster at Disneyland. After a short
tapping session, 13 of them rode the ride.
Most wanted to immediately ride again. I was
personally trained by Dr. Callahan in August 1997
on his techniques and have created along with some
other colleagues our own unique routines for our
clients. This work is becoming mainstream as
more people look for natural alternatives.
Recently, I've
received several enthusiastic testimonials from
clients and seminar participants who have dropped
pounds and lost inches without going on a specific
diet plan. Utilizing the tapping techniques
and other components of our energetic balancing
system including individual consultations, one
woman reported losing 18 pounds in a 3-month
period and another lost 4 dress sizes in the same
time frame. Sounds unbelievable but continue
reading for more information.
Often people who
want to lose weight try different diets with
some success, only to find that they regain weight
after an initial loss of pounds (the "yo-yo"
effect in the dieting process.) The tapping
techniques can be more effective--and ultimately,
longer lasting--because they impact a client
physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.
The results are achievable by addressing
emotional aspects and belief systems and removing
any conscious or subconscious blocks to losing
weight.
Some
of the emotional aspects or reasons for holding on
to the extra weight are using food as a substitute
for affection, wanting to protect the body, stuffing
feelings inside, feelings of insecurity, feelings of
self-rejection, and seeking love and fulfillment.
Individuals are not consciously aware of these
blockages to weight loss. The subconscious
mind though has been programmed with these beliefs
and negative programs. How do we know if we
have emotional blockages to losing weight?
The simplest natural
way to check for this is using kinesiology or
muscle testing. Muscle testing involves one
person (the client) holding their arm out, parallel
to the ground, and someone else (the tester)
administering the test. The client
says their name and then the tester pushes their
arm down and it stays strong. The client
then says, "My name is (any other name)",
which is a false statement and their arm is weak
and drops to their side. This works as a lie
detector test and I love to demonstrate this test
and watch the faces of audience participants.
After the client and tester have witnessed these
successful results, they then test for emotional
blockages pertaining to weight loss. The
procedure is to say "I want to lose weight"
and muscle test the client. If the arm goes
weak there are blockages to losing weight.
How do we reprogram the body, mind and spirit
to eliminate these beliefs and start on the path to
better health?
The technique I most frequently use for weight loss
is to have clients repeat the phrase, "My
normal weight is 135
pounds and that's what I weigh!"
three times while simultaneously tapping with the
fingertips of the left index and middle fingers on
the outside (karate-chop point) of the right hand.
Of course, you should substitute your own ideal
weight as you perform your personal routine, which
resets any known or unknown resistance that might be
impeding your weight loss goals.
To verify the results,
re-perform the muscle testing with the client saying,
"I want to lose weight". If the
client's arm stays strong, we have temporarily
reprogrammed the subconscious to accept the belief
that it can lose weight. If the arm is still
weak, repeat the affirmation 3 more times with more
conviction. The key is to perform this routine
several times daily to reprogram the belief into the
subconscious mind.
I've also had several
clients whose primary focus is to return to a smaller
size of clothing than the one they are presently
wearing, rather than a specific loss of pounds.
In this case, they should repeat "My normal dress
size (or waist size) is ____ and that's what I
wear!" You can use whichever form of this routine
feels best for you.
Food addictions and
unhealthy eating habits are blockages for many people
trying to lose weight or maintain their ideal weight.
Additional tapping techniques are used to
handle cravings for unhealthy or addictive foods.
While tapping the side of the right hand
with the index and middle fingers of the left
hand, repeat the phrase, "I deeply and profoundly
accept myself even though I crave
that delicious but unhealthy
food (whatever your strongest craving might be).
"
At my seminars, I
often demonstrate this routine to handle cravings
for tasty but fattening foods (like chocolate) with
"chocolate kiss" candies. Each person slowly
unwraps and smells the candy, then ranks their
desire to eat the treat on a scale from 1 to 10.
They begin
tapping the side of the right hand, repeating
"I deeply and profoundly accept myself, even though
I crave that chocolate kiss. They then tap 4
additional points on the body while repeating "
I crave that chocolate kiss". Most people
feel an immediate relaxation in their body and their
craving is gone. If not, they repeat the entire
routine two more times, shifting their statements to
"…even though I STILL have SOME craving for that
chocolate kiss" and "REMAINING craving".
Usually, nobody wants to eat the candy anymore.
Many people find that it no longer smells good to them,
and some actually taste a bad flavor when they eat
the candy after the tapping process.
Food is frequently used
as a tranquilizer to ease our negative emotions
(conscious and subconscious.) Also, others
often have triggered viruses in our minds with
statements like: "You are fat", "
You can't lose weight", "Your
metabolism is too slow", "It's
hereditary", etc. The energetic balancing
routines empower you to remove such obstacles from
your belief system and wholly and freely begin your
weight loss program. I recommend individual
consultations to eliminate related or other
self-limiting blocks for even greater results.
Clients who
consistently practice these self-administered
routines often notice changes in their eating
habits. Junk food, coffee and soft drink
lovers now choose healthier options, like salads
and bottled water. They often feel so
energized that they even begin exercise routines.
Clearly, these techniques generate
domino-like consciousness shifts, positively
impacting other lifestyle behaviors and thus
creating a total approach to client growth on
all levels.
Free introductory
seminars are held monthly explaining the entire
system in greater detail. To pre-register
for an upcoming weight loss or other seminar in
your area, please contact John directly or

Education Spring schedule that will be mailed
out in late January.
